Dr Cosimo Loperfido is registered by the General Dental Council as a specialist in Periodontics. He received his dental degree “Summa Cum Laude” from the University of Bari (Italy) in 1997, and, after graduating, completed a post-graduate course in oral surgery at the same university, and joined the Italian Navy as a dental officer.
A few years after graduation, Dr Loperfido moved to the Netherlands, where he completed a 3-year post-graduate periodontal training accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).
He obtained his Diploma and Master of Science (MSc.) in Periodontology in 2004 from the University of Nijmegen. Additionally, during those years, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Bio-Materials.
Subsequently, he furthered his training at Loma Linda University, California, where he completed a six-month, full-time "Externship in Implant Dentistry," followed by a 20-month, full-time "Fellowship in Implant Dentistry".
Dr Loperfido limits his practice to periodontology and the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry. He has published in international journals and presented at international meetings.
Dr Loperfido works part-time as a postgraduate Clinical Teacher in Periodontology at Guy’s Hospital, King’s College, London, and is also involved in continuing professional development courses for dentists and dental hygienists.
